JAZZWORKS summer jazz workshop is an intensive learning opportunity for adult jazz musicians (all levels, beginner through professional) and advanced high school musicians, to immerse themselves in three full days and evenings of jazz classes and performances.

Monthly Jam Sessions

Jazzworks is more than just a 3-day summer wonder. On the third Thursday of every month (except July and August) Jazzworks hosts an open jam session in Ottawa. This popular event gives jazz workshop participants and other musicians an opportunity to further develop their skills, meet other musicians and hear some good jazz!

Jazzworks Workshop/Masterclass Series
In collaboration with the National Arts Centre Fourth Stage

A continuing series of workshops/masterclasses presenting outstanding jazz musicians from Canada and around the world in an intimate setting. Content varies according to the interests of the attendees and the musicians. Topics can be diverse and may include instrument technique, approach to a tune, career development, approach to composition and many others. A few tunes are played. Audience questions are welcomed. Presented in conjunction with the John Geggie Concert Series at the NAC Fourth Stage.

It's a unique opportunity for singers and instrumentalists to learn jazz theory and technique from award-winning, highly innovative Canadian jazz musicians and special guests. Expand your musical horizons with John Geggie, Rob Frayne, Jean Martin and Julie Michels. Learn new techniques from Dave Restivo, Jim Lewis, Kevin Barrett, Rémi Bolduc, Christine Duncan, Sharada Banman, Frank Lozano, Gordon Webster, Justin Haynes and special guests Ted Nash, Nick Fraser Aldo Mazza. They'll guide you through a varied weekend of jazz master classes and workshop sessions, rehearsals and performances, highlighted by a public concert on Sunday afternoon.

Jazzworks scholarships
Each year Jazzworks awards a small number of scholarships to worthy high school students wanting to improve their jazz playing abilities. The selection of the scholarship students is done in cooperation with Musicfest. A scholarship fund has been established to support this activity. Please consider making a donation to the Jazzworks scholarship fund.

Jazzworks is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation with a mandate to provide jazz education to people of all ages.
