This fall the Jazzworks Jam changed our location to the Georgeown Pub. This congenial meeting place has hosted Jacqui Dixon's jams successfully for over a year. Great acoustics, layout and food make it a good choice, with a line-of-sight that allows the audience good view and sound from any sitting area. We have now made one more change - the start time, which we have changed to 7:30 pm, from the original 8:00 pm.
Unfortunately last month saw our jam preempted by an unforeseen sporting event, with an uncharacteristic large viewing audience - the Toronto Blue Jays final match. Jazzworks will be checking the sports calendars in future to prevent another cancellation. While we cannot promise, we will do our best!
To help us with this endeavor we have engaged the help of Sue McCarthy, a long-standing JazzWorks member. Sue has great organizational skills, and will oversee our sessions to help coordinate and promote the jams. She will be looking for a jam session photographer to help in our social media promotions, and will share the task of MC and signup with Betty Anne Bryanton. Thank you Sue!!
This month's featured band: The Free Associations
The Free Associations is an instrumental band playing infectious music in the Ottawa area. The band consists of:
James Knopp - Tenor/Alto Sax
Ken Suddaby - Trumpet/Flute
Jean Bergeron - Piano
Ed Beingessner - Guitar
Adrian Steeves - Bass
Gerard Hartley - Drums
Larry Spencer Sylvain of Cornwall's Live @ the Port says "It was a pleasure working with The Free Associations. Your set lists were aggressive and diverse. I could tell a lot of hard work ,dedication and disciplined preparation went into this performance. Jazz will be included in The Live @ the Port's Entertainment regular rotation."
Hope you can come out and hear this lively crew!
