Starting in September 2015 JazzWorks is very pleased to announce the Georgetown Pub will be our NEW host for our monthly JazzWorks Jam Sessions, on the 3rd Friday of each month, September to June. The Georgetown Pub has also offered us space for our monthly JazzWorks Board of Directors Meetings, before the Jam Sessions, and at other times - free of charge (in one of the small, closed- door rooms ). In addition, the pub will host a series of select Jazz at Lincoln Centre “Micro Concerts” (Live Webcasts from www.jazz.org/live).
Changing to Fridays – this will be necessary because of a conflict with Thursday nights’ regular NFL game broadcasts at the Pub at the pub – starting in late September to end of January
To solve this issue we will switch JazzWorks Jam Sessions to the 3rd Friday of each month, beginning September18th. We will announce the change to Fridays at camp as a trial, from September to the end of December. If successful on Fridays, we can continue for the longer term.
Cover Charge – Increase
We have increased the general cover charge to $8.00, while maintaining the special rate for Friends of jazzWorks, and for students at the original $5.
Te Georgetown Pub offers generous seating, 70 to 80 people (on the music side of the bar), and a better listening experience. Smaller rooms are also available for those who want to socialize.
The Georgetown Pub has a “rarely used” sound system, which includes a sound board. It will be available to be used by JazzWorks, in combination with our system, so that we can use all of the gear to our best advantage. The JazzWorks sound system can be stored in the basement. We are very pleased to announce that Alf Warnock will be able to continue as our sound man.
Food and Beverages
With delicious Pub Food and a nice selection of brews and beverages on hand, we know JW Jammers will love the new location! To learn more about the Georgetown, <click here>.
JazzWorks would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to the Carleton Tavern for hosting our jams over the last few years. Great hospitality and service, but unfortunately a tough room to play in.
