“JazzWorks is excited to be taking the chill off Ottawa’s winter for jazz vocalists and jazz enthusiasts by presenting this wonderful international recording artist and educator,” said JazzWorks’ Executive Director/Producer, Judith Humenick. “These events, sponsored in partnership with Zolas Restaurant, the Algonquin College Music Industry Program and the BluesFest School of Music and Art, will be Vinx’s first performance in the Ottawa area. We know Ottawa will welcome Vinx, fresh from performances in New York and at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, to share his vocal magic. ”
Currently on the teaching faculty at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Vinx resides in Concord, New Hampshire where he operates his recording studios and production company, Dreamsicle Arts & Entertainment Group. There, he mentors up and coming vocal artists, through a variety of song writing and vocal recording seminars and events.
Undoubtedly one of the most gifted improvisational vocalists performing today, with songs that range from jazz to funk, bossa nova to blues and back again, each audience takes a world tour with VINX as their private guide. Soaring vocals, intricate layered melodies and grooves, and that primal hand drum holding it all together mark the signature style that makes VINX a stand out among world class vocalists.
Infused with tastes from around the world, his song writing is a tour de force combining the best in storytelling with the heart and soul of a true balladeer. Although he is often joined by a range of stunning musicians, Vinx is unique in that his fined tuned composition skills, mastery of in-the-moment vocal looping and razor sharp instincts infuse his solo performance with the lushness of a full symphony orchestra. But don’t be fooled by the force of his talent, his aim is to make it feel good and groove! More information about Vinx is available at www.vinx.com
"Imagine a classic R&B voice like those of Sam Cooke or Al Jarreau singing a cappella over a boisterous percussion troupe and you might get a hold on Vinx's magic...It's his yearning voice, alternately full of both anguish and joy, that makes you listen." ~ MODERN DRUMMER MAGAZINE.
